OFFICIAL RULES OF FINLAND LIONS SUMMER CUP RINGETTE TOURNAMENT
The playing rules are those from International Ringette Federation IRF, last edition. The following rules apply to tournament format and organization.
1. Each team will play three games in the preliminary round on, and two playoff games.
2. Games will be two periods of fifteen minutes stopped time with 30 seconds shot clock. Pregame warmups will be two minutes continuous time. Intermission between periods will be two minutes. No overtime at the end of regulation time during the preliminary rounds.
3. One 30 seconds time out per team per game will be permitted.
4. Each team should be ready to play 10 minutes prior to their scheduled start times. A team that does not present itself to a game will be judged by jury of the tournament to loose the game by 0-2.
5. Sportsmanship is part of the game. But, time constraints do no permit exchange of gifts or pictures on the ice. If teams wish to make a gift exchange, they can do so in the hallway.
6. A player can only play for one team during this tournament weekend. However, players can be called up to an other team, if necessary, with the tournament jury being advised in advance of the call up.
7. Minor penalties will be 2 minutes and Major penalties will be 4 minutes.
8. The point system for teams ranking in is: 2 points for a WIN, 1 point for a TIE, & 0 point for a LOSS.
9. Should an “act of god” happen (power failure, major injury …), after 30 minutes delay the game will be called and the score will be recorded as is no matter how long the game was running at the time of the “act of god”.
10. No game protests will be accepted.
11. The members of the tournament jury are: Tournament Manager, Representative of Referees and Representavive of FRA
12. In the event of a tie for a playoff seed, the following criteria will apply to determine the team's ranking in the standings:
a) If one of the tied teams has beaten all other tied teams, rank that team highest.
b) If still tied, rank teams in order of the plus/minus (goals for minus goals against) in games between the tied teams.
c) If still tied, rank teams in order of the plus/minus (goals for minus goals against) in all games.
d) If still tied, rank teams in order of the scored goals in all games.
e) If still tied, rank teams in order of minor penalty minutes.
6) If still tied, a coin toss will be used to break the tie.
13. Playoff and qualification Format on Sunday:
a) The two top teams in both division advance to the two phase Playoff Round.
b) 3rd and 4th teams in both division are to play two games for ranks 5th to 8th .
c) Each playoff game will consist of two 15-minute periods stopped-time, with shot clock. There will be an overtime period followed by shootouts until there is a winner and a loser.
d) The following overtime and shootout rules will apply:
I. 1 minute intermission is allowed before the overtime.
II. One 5 minute sudden death period will be played with the usual number of players. Penalties being served at the end of regular game play will continue to be served. The visitor team is awarded for free pass at the beginning of the overtime period.
III. Shootout:. Three penalty shots are given each team (the shooters and their order of shooting must be indicated immediadly after overtime). Home team shoots first. Should a tie persist after the first round of shooters, teams alternate shooters until there is a winner.
